YO JOE! A new Joe recruit has dripped out of the darkness of secrecy and into the known world!

With the Walmart subline Night Force ramping up this year, we have a new character recently exposed for a future release. And I mean New new. This is not a known character. Completely an OC. Lenny Panzica and Emily Bader have mentioned in a fan roundtable, earlier this year, that the Night Force subline will be introducing more international men-at-arms, and they like to develop never-before-seen new characters in the Classified line as well. We seen earlier on the Cobra side with those Mole Rats, now we got Wolf Spider! Let’s see what this figure is about:

We can see that his radio backpack and shotgun come from Classified Falcon (thankfully, they didn’t give him his face, heh). The rope, which is made of real string and not solid plastic, is carried over from the Amazon Cobra Ninja 2 pack. His legs are from the Alley Vipers (coincidentally, we are getting Crimson Alley Vipers in this line, too). The forearms seem to be from Sgt. Stalker. The biceps could come from anyone else, honestly. It’s a little hard to tell. The head, from further inspection, is a reuse of Kamakura’s. (Note: Classic Storm Shadow’s head is not the same as Kamakura’s).

The only new accessories this toy comes with is the helmet, the mask, and the vest. Like with Tunnel Rat, who is coming out later this year, he has night vision goggles as the attachment. You can put it up if you want to see the guy’s eyes. The mask could be a gas mask. It looks like a filter where the mouth is. His eye holes is different. The blue circle piece must be for sight precision, and the other side must be for better focus on his aiming eye. A bit of a Deathstroke mask from DC Comics. No alt head, but that’s expected. The vest is pretty standard, but it’s a new part, as I can tell. I don’t know what torso that is, but if I’m a betting man, I say a reuse from Sgt. Stalker.

OhmiGod! What’s wrong with your faaaaaace???

This character seems to fit right in with the Night Force crew. With a name like Wolf Spider, he has a spider insignia on his left arm, He is mostly a dark grey, with the green vest, as mentioned. Having yellow accents might make him stand out like a sore thumb at night, though. I guess some figures need a sprucing. This is G.I. Joe, after all.

Also did a little research, the name Parth Varma carries a little meaning. The name is of Hindu/Indian origin. Sanskrit, specifically. It means prince or king. Why do I mention that? Because Varma is also of the same origin. Varma, is derived from varman, which, in Sanskrit, means protection/shield. If you want to be technical, the correct spelling should Varmā. The macron at the end means you carry out the vowel. So it should be pronounced Var-MAY. I’m not going to hold it over the Joe design team, though. Another plus, we might have our first Indian character in G.I. Joe! (Spirit Iron Knife is Native American, not Indian).

What do you guys think of Parth ‘Wolf Spider’ Varmā? Is he an instant grab? Or will you hold off until later?
