Takara Tomy’s official Twitter account @TF_pr has posted a YouTube link to Studio Trigger’s “Special Movie” for the 40th Anniversary of Transformers. This 3-minute-plus video is directed by Gridman Universe director Akira Amemiya and featuring Bump of Chicken’s 2007 track “Mayday”. More music video than movie, this gorgeous all-cel animated love letter to the franchise nevertheless brings a signature ultrakinetic style to the Transformers. It’s sure to get you in the 40th anniversary celebration mood, if not get all misty for just a little bit.
