With so many great figures coming out in 2021, it was hard to pick just one as my favorite.  Luckily, I get to pick two… sort of.  My favorite Transformer this year is Studio Series 86 Scourge and his repaint, Sweep!

Scourge and his Sweeps have always held a warm place in my heart.  As a child of G1, the original Transformer animated film played a large part in my love of the franchise.  My favorite scene in that movie was when Unicron reformatted of the Decepticons.  The look of Scourge, and his huntsmen, The Sweeps was such an amazing thing to me.  They looked like flying demons with the power to to rip apart the Autobot leader, Ultra Magnus.

These Studio Series releases really nail down the look of these characters.  With great articulation and those swooping wings, these are as close to the animation model as any release we’ve had of them in the past.

Scourge himself has a deep blue tone, which almost looks purple under certain lighting.  He comes with his weapon and a blast effect.

Sweep is a much brighter blue tone as well has a hand swap so his closed hand is opposite of Scourge.  Everything else about the figure, from the sculpt of the face to the tips of his wings, is identical.

Together, they look amazing!

A comparison with Titans Return Scourge as well as Legends Scourge.

As a group, they look very menacing.  Wings spread in attack formation.

They look fantastic together in a group with their master Galvatron.

It isn’t just the way the toy looks in robot mode that I like, the conversion from robot to space ship is a fun process as well.   It isn’t overly complex, but still enough of a challenge to make it interesting.  The finished results look amazing.

Overall, this figure is a treat for me being such a fan of the original 1986 character.  I am thrilled to finally have a great figure in both size and look to match the importance of this character to me.
