When an action figure is lacking in articulation and/or posing options, it’s common enough to hear people refer to it as a “statue” (or, alternatively and perhaps more commonly, a “brick”).

Well, it seems the folks at Takara Tomy have decided to lean into that term where one of their upcoming Transformers offerings.

Scheduled for a release in Spring of 2025 at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price to be determined, the newly-announced Karakuri Statue KS-01 Convoy is described on the official website as follows (via Google Translate):

This is a commemorative product for Takara Tomy’s 100th anniversary and Transformers’ 40th anniversary. When you press the button on the pedestal, Optimus Prime transforms completely automatically, and from the original anime “Fight! Reproduce the transformation scene of “Super Robot Lifeform Transformers”.

After transformation, Optimus Prime (CV: Tetsusho Genda) speaks his lines and his eyes light up.

Reservations will open in the Summer of 2024 at the official Takara Tomy Mall website, among others. Naturally, the image is a prototype, and the final product, reservation start time, and release date are all subject to change.

Thanks to PrimalxConvoy for the tip!
